Gear shifter problems and midnight madness
Recently I have been ridining quite a lot and a couple of weeks ago I made my debut in the national Cross Country B-class race. The race was held in Rovaniemi, above the arctic circle, which suited me, since I was on my way to the ISNE-event in Saariselkä.
I got a good start in the race, but had difficulties in finding a good rythm and I even had a huge moment in a downhill, when the back end of the bike hit a tree. Luckily I managed to somehow stay on the bike and continue the race. After riding about an hour I noticed the gear shifter had become loose and I had to stop about five times to tighten it, before I reached the pits to get it fixed properly. After the pitstop I continued struggling and I managed to finish 16th of 20 in my class.
After the race I continued to Saariselkä, where the International Six Nights Enduro took place. I got valuable time on the rallybike in challenging environments, including swamps, at night time. The weather was mostly really good and several times I witnessed the midnight sun on top of the fells of Lapland. I got to experience some elements which are present in my coming adventure as well, and now I´m wiser about how to deal with these issues.
For now it´s back to business as usual!
